Mobility scooters are high-risk assistive technology, as each year many people across Australia are in an accident using a scooter. This training will outline the step-by-step process to assess, request and train adult clients to use mobility scooters. Steps will be outlined using the OT process to mitigate risks and ensure good outcomes.

Karen Maurer has over 25 years’ experience working as an OT, including many years as a senior clinician with a special interest in assistive technology. She runs a private practice supporting adult clients with progressive neurological conditions and SCI, helping them stay connected with their community through using equipment including scooters and wheelchairs.
